This week started off with some artistry. The boys were having some playtime outside and I came out to check on them and what do ya know E was building a sculpture out of scraps of wood and the top is, yes a sand pail. ahha. Too cute. He was proud of it. Who needs lessons for sculpture class when I have a sprouting artist making it all on his own.

We are at the beginning of "The Whipping Boy", Progeny Press book study and I'm impressed with my improvised direction. I'm trying to be more relaxed about learning...TRYING is the key word. I'm so used to this formula, school=structure, timelines, agendas, rules. Well, I think I'm doing a good job, thanks to God. He's really enjoying cut&paste, building a castle from blocks, just a few additional things I thought would be fun besides just reading and answering questions.

Think It Through Tiles Discovery Toys Earth Science has been in a box for a long time. I thought it could be useful this week as I'm noticing his less than positive attitude in doing science outdoors. I'm a little perplexed, I thought boys loved outdoors and combining that with study should be fun. Although we did have an unexpected critter for Nature Study this week for a visit which I will post about. He's always enjoyed this tile learning game because of the way the answer appears in a puzzle format.
OK. Love this book.
Why have I not taken this out of the library before? I don't know.
I had to stop him from going through all of the book. I told him "lets save the rest for tomorrow". As you can see he likes mind puzzles and mazes etc.

My oldest was outside playing with the neighborhood kids and I called him in to look at it with me...haha. OH BOY! I'm a nut.

He asked, "sooo, OK can I go back outside now".
I'm really excited to start Story of the World as you can tell.
I'm thankful that my Handbook of Nature Study is also here to help me along with our science.

Looks like a great week! I need to do more nature stuff. We do lots of art/craft type things, but not much science and discovery of the world outdoors.
